Nar-Neekie Cohen, a proud Thunghutti, Gumbaynggirr, Worimi, and Gomeroi woman, was born in Armidale, NSW and relocated to the Gold Coast in 2009. As a distinguished leader, she served as Indigenous Student Captain during her high school years and was twice awarded Indigenous Student of the Year. Her sporting achievements include captaining the Junior NRL School Girls Rugby League Program on tours to New Zealand and Cairns, playing in the U16 Queensland Indigenous Team, and a part of the U18 Southeast Queensland training Squad. She signed with the Sydney Roosters and participated in the prestigious Tarsha Gale Cup.
Nar-Neekie has a strong background in Registered Training Organisations, having been a Domestic Student Support Officer and student mentor for Indigenous programs, including collaborations with the Preston Campbell Foundation. In 2023, she joined Corporate Culcha, where she works in administration, assists with projects, and facilitates 'Deadly Thinking Youth' programs. She also contributes to the National Wellbeing Alliance as part of the National Training Quality Team and Marcomms.
Nar-Neekie recently launched a podcast through the NWA, focusing on the importance of mental health and its impact on communities, featuring frontline trainers and community members.
Exploring opportunities, mentoring, and education is at the heart of Nar-Neekie's work, as she remains dedicated to empowering her community and fostering positive change for future generations.
